Family House
North Avoca, NSW

Passive Solar, Connection to Place

North Avoca 1 is a new family home that has been designed to maximise views to the beautiful North Avoca coast line. It also connects with its sub-tropical bushland surrounds through the use of large terraces that extend the living areas into the treetops.

Natural light and ventilation are encouraged to filter through the house by means of simple well directed high level louvre windows. The building sits on a steep bushland slope of the North Avoca escarpment. It has been designed for a young and growing family who required flexibility in how the house was arranged and performed. The main living areas, kitchen and master bedroom suite are located on the upper level with direct access to a large entertaining terrace with views to the beach and headland beyond. The children’s bed rooms, rumpus room and second external deck located on the lower level, with direct connection to the terraced landscaped garden.
