Construction begins at Woy Woy Bay House
We are excited to announce that construction has now begun at the Woy Woy Bay house on the NSW Central Coast, with the building contract being awarded to local builders Allan Slade Constructions.

This house will be an exciting, subtle and layered addition to the Woy Woy waterfront, with a clever stepped form that starts as a modest single level timber dwelling to the street entry courtyard on the east and steps with the site fall to open up the 2 levels of the home to the beautiful water views across the bay to the west. The main living spaces are all located on the upper level with an exposed timber rafter structure and raked timber lined ceilings reflecting the natural weathered timber jetty structures that characterise this beautiful region.
The location of the original boat house has been maintained near the jetty in the new design to continue the connection of the home to the waterfront, jetty and allow it to participate in the natural and recreational activities of this vibrant water-way.
External materials are natural, muted and textured to reflect the existing tones of the mangroves and the natural finishes of the timber jetties along this part of the coast. The rectilinear timber form of the upper level sits on a masonry base that seats the house into the hill and provides subtle elevation for the upper level living areas and outdoor terrace. A range of environmental control devices have been designed into this project to ensure a comfortable passive approach is maintained to heating and cooling. These include north facing high level windows, careful selection of glass to suit orientation, sun-shades, awnings, pergola frames and timber batten screens that provide both privacy as well as weather protection.
“We are so excited to see the house under construction and can’t wait to be living in our new home. Celsius Architecture managed the design and approvals process very well and our project was approved by the local council very quickly and smoothly. We have loved living in Woy Woy in this location for many years and this project will help to continue our connection to this beautiful part of NSW”
